Prenup lawyers in Sacramento see plenty of weird stuff, but the strangest of all is when a couple decides not to get a prenuptial agreement at all. Prenups really do offer a lot of protection, and they can be used as a way to make sure that both spouses are on the same page about things before they ever even say “I do.”
While most prenups in California simply focus on the more mundane aspects of married life, there are some celebrities out there whose agreements are rumored to be pretty interesting. For example:
Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel
According to gossip, this celebrity couple may have included a “fidelity clause” in their prenuptial agreement. If rumors are true, Jessica would receive at least $500K if her pop star husband cheats during their marriage.
Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones
Apparently, there are a couple of interesting aspects to this Hollywood couple’s prenup. It seems that Catherine receives $2.8 million dollars for every year they are married and is entitled to a $5 million bonus if Michael cheats on her.
Charlie Sheen and Denise Richards
It seems like these infidelity clauses are pretty popular with the celebs. When they drafted their prenup, they agreed that Denise would get $4 million if Charlie cheated on her. Sadly, their marriage didn’t make it.
Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes
Tom and Katie’s marriage also didn’t survive, either. According to their prenuptial agreement, though, Katie won’t walk away empty-handed. Rumors say that Katie was supposed to get $3 million for every year of marriage, and after 11 years, she was entitled to half of Tom’s assets.
Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban
This was a case where the celebrities in question weren’t even planning to have a prenuptial agreement, but Nicole’s “people” pretty much insisted on it. Supposedly, Keith gets $640K for every year of marriage unless he relapses and uses drugs, in which case, he gets nothing.
Lamar Odom and Khloe Kardashian
Possibly the weirdest of all the celebrity prenups on this list, Khloe had some pretty hefty demands. The rumors say that she asked to receive $500K for every year of marriage, $25K per month for support, $5K a month for shopping, and $1K a month for beauty care. All of this on top of the house, a new car after each lease runs out, and courtside Lakers tickets for her family.
While “regular people” might not be dealing with the same concerns (or numbers) as these celebrities, that doesn’t mean that prenups aren’t an important part of the marriage planning process.
